One of our donors (Richard Harris) gave us an unexpected gift designated for landscaping. We have been getting by with mud that blows dust in the dry weather and flows sticky torrents during storms. It's great to now have two retaining walls, one above the house, another just below. Everybody has been helping to get this project is done. Another week or two and we will get everything levelled and planted with grass that we can keep short to discourage snakes. (We caught a big boomslang slithering by last week).
The kids have broken up for their 'summer' break. It's great to have them all home at the farm together for the first time. Ruzindana and Christophe have both graduated from their primary school. We are awaiting results. They have requested a school in Butare which is said to be one of the best secondary schools in Rwanda. It is a long way from here, so they will be boarding again. Its not finalized yet, but they are very industrious and we expect them to get very good results and their first choice in schools.
Our original kitchen sink was seriously nasty. We came across a free cabinet and sink. The boys removed the junk and put in the new cabinets. They did a great job and Mutoni finished the work.
