With the progess at Lakeside Fish Farm (see our new home page), our plans for the Ishimwe Center are becoming clear and we are picking up speed. It's exciting and we feel very good about this. We have given 3 months notice on our Kigali house and rented a much cheaper one in Nyamta. Nyamata is near to the fish farm.
We will move the children there in stages, with the younger ones starting in July. This will give Faith a break from home schooling. If all goes well, the older ones will follow and the process will complete by January 2011.
Our children are generally doing well, but most of them are older than their peers because of missed schooling, trauma and malnutrition.
The name Faith gave her, Tumukunde, means "Let's love her". The way she sneaks up on us and flashes that lovely smile, it's impossible not to love her.
Faith's sister Philippa from Houston. She is raising awareness for breast cancer here in Rwanda. We joined her on a walk through Kigali.
Lisa, from Houston, stayed with us while she prepared the ground for her model farm project.
A church group from Oklahoma visited us for the morning to play with the children.
